纽约长岛8日发生多起灌木丛火灾，纽约州州长霍楚（Kathy Hochul）针对火灾发布了紧急状态。
报导称，目前有三处火灾已被扑灭，西汉普顿（Westhampton）的火灾已得到50%的控制。据悉，两座商业建筑被大火烧毁，一名消防员面部被烧伤。纽约州州长表示，纽约州将提供需要的任何资源和支持，纽约国民警卫队已被部署提供空中支援。
据介绍，第一起火灾发生在下午1时左右，随后火势开始蔓延。目前，长岛日出高速东段部分路段依然关闭，但目前没有居民点处于火灾威胁下。

霍楚针对这场火灾宣布进入紧急状态。霍楚在声明中表示：「我已宣布进入紧急状态，以便立即调配资源。当前局势仍在发展，空气质量问题令人担忧，纽约州居民需要关注最新的紧急警报，并做好撤离準备。」
目前，起火原因尚不明确，但官方表示，强风是火势迅速蔓延的关键因素。根据气象专家预测，当晚夜间风速会稍有下降，但到9日下午将再次增强。未来几天，强风及乾燥植被和低湿度，将使火灾风险持续存在。
纽约邮报则指出，大火带来的浓烟笼罩了汉普顿地区的中产和富人社区，威胁大量民宅，空气品质令人担忧，目前当地消防单位派出4架黑鹰直升机出动灭火，每架能倒660加侖的水。
